MYALL CREEK NATIONAL COMMITTEE
SYDNEY FRIENDS OF MYALL CREEK
Why not set up a Myall Creek Friends group in your area?
Myall Creek belongs to all of us. The ongoing story of Myall Creek, the massacre and the memorial, needs to be told. The future path for our nation passes through its past.
In 2003, the Sydney Friends of Myall Creek was set up to help tell the story. We were not many, but the few working together we found can be amazingly effective.
How to set up a group
All that is need is for someone to be the link person. Their name(s) can then be put on the website, with contact details.
We suggest starting with two meetings a year. Following the June national gathering, a get-to-know meeting could be held towards the end of the year. Then in April a second meeting with a focus on getting the word out, using the national gathering as a focus. Of course the scope for initiatives is endless. Those initiatives can then be shared on the website to encourage others.
Such groups operate autonomously, but the charter for Friends Groups is at all times to support and be accountable to the National Committee. Part of this is to give feedback and offer suggestions.
